Horror Poster
Below is a picture of my horror poster that I have created as part of my coursework. I have created the poster on publisher which is designed for making posters and booklets etc. some people would create posters and other creative work on programmes such as Adobe Photoshop, but as I wanted a bit more of a challenge I decided to create my poster on Microsoft Publisher. Below is the end result...
Colours Used
The colours that I have chosen to use are dull and dark which are the perfect colours to use for a horror genre, having any other colours such as yellow or blue will not only confuse the audience about the genre but also make it look silly and unprofessional. I have used the colour black quite a lot as this is the darkest colour to use and proves to be most effective when not only used in the right way but also to add a dark and horror sort of feeling to the magazine.
Target Audience
The target for this poster and the trailer that we have create as well as the magazine would be for 12+. Horror films can contain very gruesome content depending on who made the film and what PG rating it is. some horror films can be at a 12 where as other are over the age of 18. I have labeled my poster at this age because it contains nothing gruesome but still falls under the category of horror. Having it over the age of 12 would be wrong as it doesn't meet the correct criteria for an older PG, but at the same time it would also be wrong to lower the PG.
Layout
I have gone for a very simple layout which consists with the main title being in the top middle of the screen. I have then put the main images in the middle where they can be easily seen with no difficulty. At the bottom I have put the information about the cast for the film etc. to try and make the poster look as realistic as I possibly can. I have put the main image which is a picture of me looking at the dark figure in the background to add extra effect and just to make it look good and unique.
